Service Registry

NGA-Earth is currently developing a UDDI registry for GEOINT web service providers.

Wikipedia defines a UDDI as a platform-independent, XML-based registry for businesses worldwide to list themselves on the Internet. UDDI is an open industry initiative, sponsored by OASIS, enabling businesses to publish service listings and discover each other and define how the services or software applications interact over the Internet. A UDDI business registration consists of three components:

White Pages — address, contact, and known identifiers;
Yellow Pages — industrial categorizations based on standard taxonomies;
Green Pages — technical information about services exposed by the business.

UDDI is one of the core Web services standards. It is designed to be interrogated by SOAP messages and to provide access to Web Services Description Language (WSDL) documents describing the protocol bindings and message formats required to interact with the web services listed in its directory.

NGA-Earth will leverage this standard in our web services and publish our WSDL for other federal government agencies to utilize.

The customer trying to access our UDDI Registry will need to have their own UDDI Browser that can search any public UDDI directory.  The inquiry URL needed to search for the NGA-Earth public UDDI directory is: http://www.nga-earth.org/uddi/inquiry. We will continue to deploy new services and will add them to our UDDI when they become available.
